UPCOMING EVENTS

Child Safety Kits

The Roseville Public Safety Foundation has purchased 1,000 National Child Identification Program Fingerprint I.D. Kits (approved by the The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)). These give parents or guardians a way to store fingerprints, photos and other identity information.  These kits will be given out, at no cost, during many of the National Night Out events.  Details to follow.

Roseville National Night Out

The 2024 Annual National Night Out events across Roseville neighborhoods will be held on August 6th. Representatives from various Roseville departments including Police, Fire, City Manager's Office, and City Council will join the community for a night of fun. This program highlights a shared commitment to safety and community well-being. Neighbors annually enjoy engaging events such as BBQs and ice cream parties, reinforcing connections and fostering unity. This collaboration showcases the strength of community spirit, highlighting the harmony that defines Roseville's neighborhoods.

Success Stories

Wheels Parade Kicks off Holiday Week

The Stoneridge Neighborhood Association hosted their inagural Wheels Parade at Harry Crabb Park.  Great job by all of the families on getting those bikes, scooters, and wagons decorated with lots of red, white and blue.

SNA - City Partner for New Benches

Two new benches have been installed next to the bocce courts at Harry Crabb Park thanks to a partnership between the Stoneridge Neighborhood Association (SNA) and the City's Parks, Recreation and Library Dept.  SNA raised funds to purchase the benches through its annual bocce tournaments and City crews provided the installation.  Want to help with other improvements?  SNA's next bocce tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28th.  Check SNA's website (sna.rcona.org) for details.

Maidu's Pancake Breakfast

Over 50 residents enjoyed the breakfast cooked by the Roseville Police Department at this Maidu event.

Silver Springs NA Activates

Newly formed Silver Springs NA held its first meeting on June 11, 2024 at the Raley's O-N-E Market on Blue Oaks Blvd.  About 19 community members, a collective of residents from the Silver Silver Springs area, RCONA E-Board, RCONA Activation Committee members, and other community stakeholders attended this first meeting.  The provisional board was confirmed and approved by a unanimous vote and 3 additional members opted to be members-at-large, making an executive board of 7 members. The Silver Springs NA will tentatively be voted and approved by RCONA at the June 20th, RCONA Board Meeting.  The Silver Springs NA is located within the Sierra Vista Specific Plan in West Roseville, neighboring the Solaire NA and West Park NA.

Solaire Kicks-Off The Summer With A Free BBQ

Solaire Neighborhood Association hosted a free BBQ for its residents on Memorial Day Weekend (May 25th), at the newly opened Solaire Park. The event was sponsored by its very own residents who happen to be business owners: The Brian Hoh Group of Compass and local chiropractor, Dr. Sophia Suprai. The festivities included 14 vendors, mostly from Roseville, free face painting, a bounce house/ slide combo, free BBQ, desserts from a local food truck, bubble making activities, corn hole games and live music provided by a local acoustic/pop duo out of West Roseville. A total of 179 meals were reserved and they ended cooking up 230 burgers and hot dogs! Total in attendance was approximately 304 residents!

Spring Clean-up Keeps Bikes Rolling

In addition to all of the garages cleaned out and the tons of materials properly disposed of, Roseville’s 2024 Spring Clean-up program did some “wheely” good work (as Elmer Fudd might have said).

Eight bikes in fairly good condition were donated to Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen in mid-town Sacramento to be fixed up and sold at very low prices.  Nine other bikes in similar condition were given to Seven Hills Middle School in Nevada City.  Seven Hills, shown here in the photos, has a full shop and regular Bike Shop classes to train their students.  Those bikes will be fixed up and donated to those in need.

SNA's 1st Ever Cornhole Tournament

Stoneridge Neighborhood Association’s 1st ever cornhole tournament was a win-win-win event.  Held at Harry Crabb Park on Sunday, May 19th, 9 teams competed in this fundraiser for local parks in the Stoneridge neighborhood.  In front of dozens of spectators, all teams played two divisional games, with four teams advancing to the playoffs.

Team Cornstarch, the most dominant team in the first two rounds, played wild card winner Team Dad Bod, while division winners Team Kevin & Dave and Team Solaire faced each other.  In the playoffs, Team Dad Bod, who lost their first-round game to Team Council (Mayor Bruce Houdesheldt and Councilmember Tracy Mendonsa), pulled out an upset 13-12 victory over Team Cornstarch, while Team Kevin & Dave sent Team Solaire back across town.  Team Dad Bod won a decisive victory in the finals to take home the championship.

Win-win-win?  Team Dad Bod won the tournament, everyone who attended had a great time, and the profits will help our local parks.  It was so much fun, we’ll be doing it again.  Look for the 2nd annual SNA Cornhole Tournament next May by checking the events calendar at sna.rcona.org or by subscribing to the SNA monthly e-newsletter here.

HSVNA Sidewalk Grant

The Roseville Grants Commission made a significant contribution towards community development by awarding RCONA a generous grant of over $7,000. This funding will be directed towards the much-needed installation of a sidewalk within the Historic Sierra Vista Neighborhood Association (HSVNA), a project that holds great significance for both residents and visitors. The grant underscores the commitment of the Roseville Grants Commission to enhancing the quality of life for local residents by providing essential infrastructure that promotes accessibility, safety, and community cohesion. The HSVNA expressed its gratitude to the Roseville Grants Commission for their support in realizing this vital neighborhood improvement initiative.

Pancake Breakfasts

Several neighborhood associations annually host pancake breakfasts for their residents. Maidu Neighborhood Association held their Father’s Day event in June and he HSVNA conducted theirs to kick off the school year. Local businesses, such as Fourscore Coffee, Safeway, Grocery Outlet, and Roseville Meat Market, teamed up with local volunteers to make these breakfasts successful. The breakfasts not only offer a delicious meal but also highlight a commitment to creating meaningful experiences that enhance the neighborhood's sense of togetherness.

Roseville Cleanup Days

The Neighborhood Cleanup Days, an annual event in Roseville, serves as a catalyst for residents to rejuvenate their homes and neighborhoods by responsibly disposing of unwanted items. As neighbors come together to declutter and tidy up, the event encourages a shared commitment to maintaining the beauty of the city. The 2024 event achieved remarkable milestones by having 1,569 residents drop off items (a 14% increases over 2023) and collected 126 tons of trash (7% increase).  In addition, nearly 14 tons of e-waste and over 3 tons of mattresses were properly disposed off.  Kudos to the entire community for such a successful project.
